Exhibition: „The Metropolis Experiment – Vienna and the 1873 World Exhibition“

May 11–September 28, 2014. Centre of the exhibition at the Wien Museum is the 1873 World Exhibition on the grounds of Vienna’s Prater area. Another spotlight is the construction of Vienna’s Ringstrasse boulevard which changed the city strongly. 2015 Vienna celebtrates the 150th anniversary of the famous Ringstrasse. Musical June: 31. edition Danube Island Festival Vienna Festival

June 27–29, 2014. Many musical top acts for free, Europa’s largest open air area and three million visitors: For three days Vienna’s popular recreational area turns into the place to be when the 31st Danube Island Festival is on. For five weeks the Vienna Festival presents 37 stage productions from 32 countries, exhibitions, video installations, films, talks by artists and 22 festival concerts. Vienna Pride & Rainbow Parade

„Vienna Pride“ (June 11–15, 2014) and „Rainbow Parade“ (June 14, 2014) are popular highlights of the gay and lesbian scene in Vienna. The „Pride Village“ at Rathausplatz offers a mix of culture, shows, dining, information and parties. At the Rainbow Parade more than 100.000 visitors parade around the Ringstrasse to set a sign of tolerance and equality. (www.viennapride.at, www.regenbogenparade.at)
